Terms & Conditions
Pilgrims Pool & Spa, Bacton
Pilgrims Pool & Spa is a private hire swimming pool in Bacton, Norfolk. The facilities include a 13m x 4m swimming pool, approximately 1.2m deep throughout, set within a 16th Century thatched barn, with showers, changing rooms, a small gym and an electric sauna.
By making a booking, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Booking and payment
Bookings are for private hire in hourly slots.
The current hire charge is £30 per hour.
The person making the booking must be aged 18 or over and is responsible for all members of their group.
Payment must be made at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed. Your booking is not confirmed until payment has been received.
2. Hire period
Your booking is for the time slot selected.
Please arrive on time and leave promptly at the end of your session so that the facilities can be prepared for the next booking.
Late arrival does not entitle you to extra time or a refund.
If you overrun your booked slot, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee or refuse future bookings.
3. No lifeguard / private hire responsibility
Pilgrims Pool & Spa is a private hire facility.
No lifeguard is provided.
The hirer is responsible for the safety, supervision and behaviour of everyone in their group during the hire period.
A responsible adult must act as the group supervisor and must remain in the pool area at all times while the pool is in use.
4. Maximum numbers
A maximum of 8 people may use the swimming pool at any one time.
There must be a capable person aged 16 or over in the pool area when the pool is in use.
We reserve the right to refuse entry or end a session without refund if the maximum number is exceeded or if we consider the group unsafe.
5. Children
Children must be supervised at all times.
The following supervision rules apply:
Age of child: Minimum supervision requirement, Under 4 years 1 adult to 1 child 4 to 8 years 1 adult to 2 children Under 18 years Must be supervised by a responsible adult
Children must not be left unattended in the pool, sauna, gym, changing rooms, showers or any other part of the premises.
Children should not use the sauna.
6. Pool rules
For everyone’s safety, the following rules apply:
No diving.
No jumping, bombing, pushing, running or rough play.
No glass anywhere on the premises.
No alcohol or illegal substances.
No smoking or vaping.
No food or drink in the pool area.
No pets, except assistance dogs by prior agreement.
No outdoor footwear in the pool area.
No electrical devices in the pool area.
No misuse of rescue equipment.
No use of the facilities while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or anything that may affect judgement or coordination.
Please shower before entering the pool.
Do not use the pool if you have sickness, diarrhoea, an infectious illness, open wounds or any condition that may put others at risk.
We reserve the right to end a booking immediately without refund if these rules are broken.
7. Sauna use
The sauna is an electric sauna and must be used responsibly.
You must not use the sauna if you are pregnant, unwell, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or have a medical condition that could make sauna use unsafe, unless you have taken medical advice.
You must leave the sauna immediately if you feel dizzy, faint, sick, overheated or uncomfortable.
Do not tamper with the sauna controls, heater, electrical equipment or ventilation.
Do not pour water, oils or any other substances onto the sauna heater unless expressly permitted.
Children should not use the sauna.
8. Gym area
The gym area is provided as an additional facility and is not supervised.
Gym equipment must only be used safely and for its intended purpose.
Children must not use gym equipment without close adult supervision.
Do not use any equipment if you are unsure how to use it safely.
Please report any damage, faults or concerns immediately.
9. Health and safety
You are responsible for deciding whether you and your group are fit and able to use the pool, sauna and gym facilities.
You should not use the facilities if you have been advised not to swim, use a sauna, exercise, or expose yourself to heat.
Please take extra care around wet floors, steps, changing areas and poolside surfaces.
Any accident, injury, near miss, damage or safety concern must be reported to us as soon as possible.
In an emergency, call 999.
10. Water clarity and contamination
The pool must not be used if the bottom of the pool cannot be seen clearly.
If the water appears cloudy, contaminated or unsafe, you must leave the pool immediately and contact us.
If there is any contamination, including blood, vomit, faeces, broken glass or sharp objects, you must leave the pool immediately and report it to us.
11. Damage and cleanliness
Please leave the facilities clean and tidy.
The hirer is responsible for any damage, misuse, missing items or loss caused by their group.
We reserve the right to charge for repair, replacement, cleaning or loss arising from misuse of the facilities or breach of these Terms & Conditions.
12. Personal belongings
Personal belongings are brought onto the premises at your own risk.
We are not responsible for loss, theft or damage to personal items unless caused by our negligence.
Please check that you have taken all belongings with you before leaving.
13. CCTV
CCTV is in operation within the facilities for safety, security, crime prevention and protection of customers, staff and property.
By entering the premises, you acknowledge that CCTV may be recording in permitted areas.
CCTV footage may be reviewed where necessary in connection with safety incidents, damage, misuse, crime prevention, insurance matters or disputes.
CCTV will be handled in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
CCTV will not be used in changing rooms, toilets or showers.
14. Historic building and fire safety
Pilgrims Pool & Spa is located within a historic thatched barn.
Smoking, vaping, candles, flames, fireworks, BBQs, portable heaters or any other ignition sources are strictly prohibited unless expressly authorised by us in writing.
Do not tamper with fire alarms, fire exits, fire safety equipment, electrical equipment, pool plant, sauna equipment, locked areas or restricted areas.
In the event of a fire alarm or emergency, leave the building immediately using the nearest safe exit and go to the designated assembly point.
15. Cancellations and changes by you
If you need to cancel or change your booking, please contact us as soon as possible.
Our cancellation policy is:
Cancellations within 24hrs of the booking will not be refunded but can be moved.
Cancellations with more than 24hrs notice can be refunded.
We may use our discretion in exceptional circumstances.
16. Cancellations by us
We reserve the right to cancel, move or shorten a booking where necessary due to maintenance, water quality, safety concerns, power failure, severe weather, building issues, emergency circumstances or any matter outside our reasonable control.
If we cancel your booking, we will offer either an alternative slot or a refund for the affected booking.
We are not responsible for travel costs, consequential losses or other expenses arising from cancellation.
17. Refusal of entry
We reserve the right to refuse entry, remove guests or end a booking without refund if:
These Terms & Conditions are breached.
Guests behave dangerously, abusively or irresponsibly.
Guests appear under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The group exceeds the permitted number.
There is a safety, damage, nuisance or safeguarding concern.
Guests fail to follow displayed rules or instructions.
18. Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Subject to this, users attend and use the facilities at their own risk and are responsible for following all rules, instructions and safety information.
We are not responsible for injury, loss or damage caused by misuse of the facilities, lack of supervision, failure to supervise children, breach of these Terms & Conditions, or failure to follow safety rules.
19. Commercial use, lessons and parties
Bookings are for private hire only.
Swimming lessons, clubs, therapy sessions, commercial use, parties, events, filming, photography sessions or organised group activities are not allowed without our prior written consent.
We may require additional information, insurance evidence or a separate agreement for these types of booking.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The version in force at the time of booking will apply, unless changes are required for legal, insurance, safety or operational reasons.
